Where most of my time is going

I became a parent in 2019. My wife is working full-time, and I’m doing my best to take care of our child while she works to put bread on our table. (Have I mentioned that my wife is amazing?)

For me, being a parent is fun, challenging and humbling all at once and at the best of times. Under these circumstances, the challenging and humbling parts seem to take up more space in my mind. Occasionally I will feel a little self-pity. Then I’ll see a mother juggling not one but three young children on public transit… and simply be in awe.

I considered myself a supporter of equal rights before Covid. I’m a feminist now. Industrial societies undervalue child care by an order of magnitude. That has to change, but won’t change until more men acknowledge this.
